With over 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, David provides business development and technology insights for the oil and gas segment – with special emphasize in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). David has presented and published on a number of O&G related IIoT topics. Prior to starting Scientific Technical Services, David was at the BP Chief Technology Office (CTO) where he spearheaded a wide range of innovative projects including: Developing the “Digital Umbrella” concept, wireless measurements systems, predictive analytics, and mobility projects. David has a BS in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.

Chris MacDonald

Chris joined PTC through the acquisition of Coldlight on May 7, 2015. Chris has been a leader and technologist in the Analytics space throughout his career.  Through his work at companies such as Xerox, SAP, Oracle, Coldlight and now PTC, Chris has helped companies across every vertical harness value data-driven innovation.   Leveraging his expertise in purpose built IOT analytics, Chris remains focused on unlocking potential opportunities in evolving data ecosystems using innovative technologies in his current role at PTC.  In his current role as Director of ThingWorx Analytics at PTC he has responsibility for GTM Strategy and Business Development Globally for ThingWorx Analytics.

Dr. Satyam Priyadarshy
Chief Data Scientist, Halliburton

Dr. Satyam Priyadarshy is a pioneer in the fields of data science, big data, analytics, and emerging technologies. He is currently chief data scientist at Halliburton’s Landmark PSL, leading expansion of integrated workflow capabilities and big data and data science initiatives. Dr. Priyadarshy has appeared as speaker at several international conferences, and has written, co-authored, presented and published numerous research papers in peer-reviewed journals and magazines. He has held various leadership positions in AOL, Network Solutions, Acxiom Corporation prior to joining Halliburton. He was recently named to The Financial Times’ list of potential board candidates with emerging technology and analytics expertise. Dr. Priyadarshy is an adjunct faculty at Georgetown University.  He is currently senior fellow at the International Cyber Security Center at George Mason University. He is advisory board member at multiple organizations including Big Data Summit, Virginia Tech’s MBA Board, etc.  Dr. Priyadarshy holds a Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, and an MBA from Virginia Tech.

Daniel Davila
Research Engineer, Southwest Research Institute

Daniel has extensive experience in the area of applied machine learning research and embedded software development for clients in the aerospace and oil & gas industries. He and his team of researchers explore new areas of application for machine intelligence such as computer vision for leak detection, anomaly detection, high data volume throughput optimization and integration of machine learning tools into legacy systems and instrumentation.

Mark Reynolds
Senior Solutions Architect Technical E&P Applications, Southwestern Energy

Mark Reynolds has been creating answers in diverse industries and disciplines – avionics systems, performance analysis, process management, real-time solutions, and knowledge research. His broad experience covers a wide range of engineering solutions which are operations-centric knowledge systems. Giewee Hammond

Giewee has an extensive mathematics background which she uses to resolve complex problems for Upstream E&P. She is a Lead Data Scientist for her division and has strategized and filled needs for constructing a productive advanced data analytics team to meet the demands of upstream ADA projects. Her projects are high profile, information sensitive by nature and require strategic planning with department directors. She led a company initiative on how knowledge gets managed as senior employees leave her company over the next two (2) to three (3) years. She enjoys empowering individuals with information that will help them to make decisions with favorable outcomes.  She holds the following master degrees: Actuarial Science and Analytics.  

Dr. Mehrzad Mahdavi
Vice President - Digital Solutions, Weatherford

Dr. Mahdavi is the Vice President, Digital Solutions, at Weatherford, where he is responsible for enhancing product and service offerings through information and analytical capability.

Dr. Mahdavi is a technology entrepreneur with focus on IoT, Cloud, predictive analytics and their application to breakthrough IT and cybersecurity offerings. He previously served as the President and CEO of CyberSafe id, a global firm providing cybersecurity products and services. Prior to this position, he served as the president and CEO of Dexa Systems.

Dr. Mahdavi has been the founder and CEO of several entrepreneurial companies for the last 10 years. Prior to his entrepreneurial career, he served in variety of technical and management positions in Schlumberger for 22 years. Dr. Mahdavi has served as Chair of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Digital Energy Section and is currently the SPE Digital Energy chair for strategy. He holds a PhD in Nuclear Science and Technology from the University of Michigan – Rackham Graduate School and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Jeremy Sweek

Jeremy began his career as a consultant at Deloitte, and still maintains an active CPA license in the state of Texas.

 

Bill Robertson

Bill Robertson is a Senior Manager within Enterprise Analytics at Baker Hughes. He has worked in product development within the upstream sector and is currently focusing on data management and advanced analytics. Bill has an MBA and Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Rice University.

Gilbert Chahine
Director - Data Science & Analytics, National Oilwell Varco

Gilbert Chahine joined NOV in 2011. During his short tenure, he created several centers of excellence in the fields of numerical simulation, high performance computing and predictive analytics.

He currently leads the Corporate Engineering Analysis and the Corporate Engineering Data Science groups where he plays a key technical role in the development of the NOV MAXTM platform; the company’s premier industrial data analytics platform.

His Data Science team leads the effort of developing the first prognostics health management framework for Subsea Blow-out Preventers.

He specializes in integrating new technologies and disciplines into engineering and business organizations. He holds a Ph.D. and a Master’s of Science in mechanical engineering from Southern Methodist University, and a Bachelors of Mechanical engineering from the American University of Beirut.

Brant Swidler
Manager - Customer Success, SparkCognition

Brant Swidler is the manager of Customer Success at SparkCognition. In this role, he handles project management of SparkCognition’s A.I. products for oil and gas clients, as well as business development and partnerships. Previously, Brant spent 5+ years at Schlumberger, both as a cementing field engineer in Algeria and as a strategy and operations consultant with Schlumberger Business Consulting, with a focus on digital oilfield implementations.

Brant is also the co-founder of an independent consulting firm focused on innovation and strategic implementation of new technologies in the oil and gas industry. His clients included venture, licensing, and R&D departments of Global Fortune 50 companies, as well as top-tier venture capital firms and a variety of startup businesses.  Brant has a BS in mechanical engineering with a concentration on aerospace engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, and holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

Peter Thomas
Chief Technology Officer, Blue Lance

Peter Thomas is a seasoned IT security professional, analyst, and business leader who thrives in the constantly changing and challenging world of network and cybersecurity. For more than two decades, he has been a part of the success of Blue Lance, a global provider of cyber governance solutions, which is headquartered in Houston, Texas.

In 1995, Peter began his tenure at Blue Lance as a Development Manager, overseeing a software team in the development of auditing and monitoring solutions.

Since 2002, Peter has served as Blue Lance’s Chief Technology Officer, leading the engineering team in the development of innovative cybersecurity, governance and compliance solutions. He directs all technology-related planning, including overseeing configuration and systems architecture, operating systems, data communication and internet technologies. Peter monitors and reviews all Blue Lance technology developments and new product enhancements. Catalina Herrera
Senior Solutions Consultant, Tibco Software

Data Scientist Catalina Herrera is an experienced problem solver in multiple industries, including energy, semiconductors and finance. As a Solutions Consultant for TIBCO Software Inc (Houston), she provides a wide range of analytics expertise to corporations, including ConocoPhillips for its Spotfire dashboards — tracking downhole failures and defect elimination and other evaluations and databases — and Banco de Brasil for its Spotfire reports on Portfolio Management and ATM troubleshooting, as well as providing Spotfire end-user training for the Spotfire LEAP team at Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Ecopetrol, New York Life and other corporations.

She has also served as Product Engineer-Yield Team for Texas Instruments, leading yield enhancement activities on processors and ASIC devices; optimizing SQL, Spotfire and other software tools for maximally efficient and effective problem solving; and leading strategic activities for cost reduction and performance improvement of TTR, AVS, outlier screening, etc. as well as interfacing with customers to resolve yield issues. In addition, with Alternative Energy Institute (GA), while at West Texas A&M University, Catalina verified data acquisition for wind towers’ sensors and conducted statistical analyses to benefit wind farm developers in Texas.

Starting her career as an Electrical Engineering Professor at an engineering university in Colombia, Catalina Herrera holds a Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University, in Engineer Technology from West Texas A&M University, and in Electronic Engineer and Computer Science from Los Andes University, Colombia. As a Yield Engineer, she is skilled in Tibco Spotfire (Author certified), Matlab, JMP, and R.

Arik Pelkey

Alex Hendren

Alex is a software architect with academic backgrounds in Computer and Electrical Engineering.  An industry leading equipment manufacturer recruited Alex to Houston from the University of Kentucky, where he kicked off his Oil and Gas career working for both land and offshore drilling control system product groups.  This experience propelled Alex to a position leading the development efforts of an evolutionary operating system for fully autonomous drilling rigs.

This experience not only offered valuable insight into the industry but also exposed the inefficiencies and complexities around proprietary control systems.  Frustrations rooted by vendor-specific technologies presented an opportunity for disruption using an open architecture.  With an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to solve big problems, Alex launched Remuv with the sole mission of offering drilling contractors and operators flexibility and improved technology.
